The UK company, ‘On The Menu’, has announced that its products are now available throughout the UK at independent retailers.
What’s so unique about that you ask?
They are the first retail brand to produce a range of dietitian-approved, nutritious main courses and desserts developed especially for seniors (soon to be synonymous with “baby boomers”).
Not only are the meals high in protein, low in fat and contain vegetables they are also free from MSG, GMOs (genetically modified organism) and other typical digestive system irritants that often affect the senior population. The anti-GMO sensibility is strong in Europe, so this is an important marketing edge. Even the packaging has been specifically designed for older consumers with easy to read ingredients and cooking instructions, large fonts and an easy to grip film pull tab.
These guys are definitely on to something. With the huge wave of educated, health conscious baby boomers entering their 60’s there is no doubt that we will begin to see more and more new food products marketed to their demographic.
